AgroExpo, Turkey’s largest agricultural trade fair and the fourth-largest in Europe, has appointed Agro Mavens as its UK agent for a second year.
The show, which attracted more than 330,000 visitors in 2018 – a 25 per cent increase over 2017 – will be held in the city of Izmir from 7 – 10 February 2019. Taking in all aspects of modern agriculture, from machinery to crop protection and greenhouse technology to animal health, dairy mechanisation and food technology, 2018’s event featured 875 exhibitors from 60 countries.
“The show is the pre-eminent marketplace for Turkish agriculture,” says Adrian Bell, Agro Mavens founder. “Turkey is the world’s seventh-largest agricultural producer and, through a co-ordinated government-sponsored National Agricultural Plan, intends to become the fifth-largest producer by 2023.
“Agriculture accounts for 6.1 per cent of the country’s GDP, 40 per cent up since the turn of the century.
“But the show also reflects Turkey’s long-established role as a meeting point between Europe and Asia. Agro Expo offers an opportunity to meet and interact with buyers from the Middle East, to discover trends and developments from these emerging and increasingly important markets. This makes the show one of the most important agricultural meeting points anywhere in the world.
“The 2018 event generated over $500m in business.”
Agro Expo organisers aim to have more than 950 exhibitors in 2019, and to attract 350,000 visitors from 70 countries.
